Trauma, Take Your Power Back

There are so many different kinds of trauma that I can't name them all. The first and upmost prevalent for me is emotional trauma. I've had my fair share of physical as well but bruises heal, the brain takes much longer.
Emotional trauma is a silent killer and nobody realizes it is happening to them until it has happened. Then there you are trying to sort through, why, when, how, what. The lasting effects are brutal and could last a lifetime. The feelings of "what did I do to deserve this?", make you lose focus and trust for a long time after. The person that inflicted it is often times so oblivious that they do it and they think it's just the natural course of action.
The person it happens to may not ever be the same again. They may never trust anyone, they may never love again, and they may think it was all their fault. That's no way for anyone to live, the constant fear that it will just keep happening.
Like I said, I have my fair share of mental trauma that lurks into focus every now and then and it's a dark feeling. Knowing that you willingly gave power over your emotions to someone else and they stomped all over them, that feeling may never dissolve. It takes me a lot to trust anyone but when I do I go all in, often times I should've left my walls up. Granted I do bring a lot of it on myself and may have caused some, it was never my intention. Times a conversation gets heated and when that happens, neither side wins. You could find things out that you never thought would happen. That is one of the worst, the realization after the fact, that will haunt you if you let it.
Why people do it I have no idea. They think your emotions are just a play thing and string you along and before you know it, they leave with a part of you. I've let that happen too many times. It's hard to put something back in that place because you feel it may be cursed. You feel like you were never good enough and they got what they needed from you and moved onto the next. There are predators and there is prey, don't let someone pray on your emotions and use your weakness against you.
Don't give up your power, never give up your power because you will never get it all back. Going through life being afraid of letting someone in is one of the worst forms of P.T.S.D. It is a real thing and it affects so many people and they may not know why.
If it happens to you, it's not your fault, they saw and opening and pounced on it. Don't be afraid to push them to the side because eventually they are going to do it to you. Take your power back and use it in it's fullest against them. Stand tall and strong knowing you beat them. Never give up, your power is yours and yours alone.
