I see people day in and day out rushing towards a finish line in some form or fashion. Here's a nickels worth of free advice from someone that did that for decades, SLOW DOWN! It doesn't matter what you are rushing towards, work life, retirement, or anything else, take your time. I hate to use a tortoise and hare analogy but I'm pretty sure I just did.

One of those most important things I can instill on anyone is, know where you came from and never lose track of that. Don't let yourself get so far away from the lessons you've learned that you can't reel yourself back in.

I made up this thing, well I haven't seen anything like it before so I'll take credit. I live my life by the rule of tether. Now here me out, find your center, your balance, and tether yourself there. Now all around you is hopes, dreams, reality, love, pain, work, life, party, chill, and whatever else you want to throw in there. If you keep yourself on a tether off your center, your balance, you can't drift too far into any given area. It makes sense in my head and in my life. Imagine good old fashioned face smashing tether ball. The pole at the center is your tether point, and you are the ball, you can't go too far anywhere before you have to return to center.

That isn't at all where I was going with this, now I've created my own paradox. Do I get back on track or do I just let my brain run with it? How about I find a common ground in all of it, bingo.

Don't drive yourself crazy trying to rush towards what you want, take it easy and realize what you have and how you got there. I see too many people kicking and screaming to get to the finish line, too many times they lose track of the steps they needed to take to get there. I'm thankful and beyond grateful everyday of my life for what I have and I know exactly how I got here and the people that were the push when I needed it.

Life would be so much simpler if we all just took it easy and move on at the speed of life.

To quote one of my favorites,

"Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy

Lighten up while you still can

Don't even try to understand

Just find a place to make your stand

And take it easy."

-Eagles.

Make your own peace, live your own life, breathe in everything, slow down, and take it easy!
